For those who have been drawn by the many albums from Justin Vernon, it’s not hard to tell that his surroundings have played an important part in shaping his sound. In a documentary for Red Wind Shoes, the musician takes us into everyday life in his hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, describing the sacredness in the mid-West.

Having spent years travelling across the the world, Justin prefers the landscape, roads and people of where he was born, and chooses to compare everywhere to his home in terms of feeling at peace. Despite claiming that he dislikes music at times, Justin finds building community and being a person, as opposed to simply being an artist, is necessary in being content with the world.

Directed by Andrew David Watson.
