Though KAMAU impressed us with a cover to begin with, his original songs have been just as good. We’ve been trying to pinpoint his sound, which is somewhere in between R&B and a mix of other influences. For example, “JUSFAYU,” has hints of Doo Wop, Caribbean and a touch of soul. The video is a bit of interpretive dance, as well. From wrestling with a female, to winning the girl, the ending has a twist of fate.
KAMAU’s album A Gorgeous Fortune drops everywhere on July 1.
