With his A Gorgeous Fortune effort out now, KAMAU has been pushing the EP out in the streets. With so much turmoil going on in our country, the up and comer strikes deep with his song “PohLease” single. Live at Gramercy in New York, KAMAU performs the song live as we continue living in these days and times. After listening, you’ll know why he’s touching on “who police the police” as he releases a statement about the record.

“PohLease” is a song that raises a list of questions and explores states of being and feeling while within a racist system that employs and empowers law enforcement that targets and victimizes a specific group human beings (“Black” people) in response to fear, ignorance, prejudice, and racism. Thank you for allowing me to share this with you. I hope that, as a community, we soon begin to value life equally and aggressive seek and find answers to these dangerously seemingly unanswerable questions that plague us and stunt our growth as a human community.

We must distance ourselves from the mentality that took Emmett.
