Last night, Sway made the surprise announcement to Kendrick Lamar of becoming MTV’s “Hottest MC In The Game” for their VIII’th special edition. In an exclusive sit-down with Sway, Kendrick discussed the meaning behind his debut album “good kid, m.A.A.d city” stating that it wasn’t solely about him but more less about his fellow peers being good people but having ultimatums thrown at them in a maad city and life in general.
One of his peers praised him for the album by venting and speaking out about the hardships their generation had to deal with growing up in a constant revolving cycle of no opportunity given to the youth. The interview closed out with discussing Dr. Dre telling him to go out and record the album after find out its title name.
Kendrick went on to record the entire project thinking he would go back in the studio with a “rough draft” album and brainstorm over tracks to create that “Dre. Beat,” but Dr. Dre said he was done with the album without having to be in the studio with him giving Kendrick all the confidence he needed to be a successful artist. Not even legends like 2pac, Snoop, Eminem or 50 Cent “one take’d” an album for Dr. Dre, so that’s saying a lot.
