Live from the 2013 Paid Dues festival at the San Manuel Amphitheatre in San Bernardino, Black Hippy were headliners for the show. Kendrick Lamar took time before their set to briefly discuss the group’s history and how they’ve been able to stay compact as a collective unit without egos. He opened up discussing how their fans connect with not only the solo members; but the entire Black Hippy movement, which is bigger than just the music career and also being able to enjoy making music without politics controlling them.
Dot then touched on the groups coming together, then breaking up in the future citing creating differences. Their plan was to develop their own creative space and let each person in the group get familiar with their sound, and then bring it to the group with an understanding of the person’s craft. You can continue after the jump and listen to Kendrick’s reasoning why Black Hippy will avoid a breakup
