Kendrick Lamar Doesn’t Want To Be Better Than Michael Jackson Yet

He can’t even fathom the thought

Not only did Kendrick Lamar perform a new song on The Tonight Show last night, but he also talked to Jimmy Fallon a bit in between about all those GRAMMYs nominations he got.

Jimmy pointed out that he’s received the most by any rapper ever this year and he came close to tying Michael Jackson‘s all-time record of 12, when he released he timeless classic Thriller. K Dot seemed taken back by the fun fact, but confessed he never wants to surpass the record the King of Pop holds without putting in the work.

He also shared the fact that To Pimp A Butterfly is the album he wanted to make for his debut, but he wasn’t confident enough. Luckily he made it the second time around and had great success.
