Last weekend, the 2013 edition of the independent Hip Hop festival, Paid Dues took place in San Bernardino, CA which included Black Hippy, Joey Bada$$, Dom Kennedy, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and more. Backstage during the show, Power 106’s Rikki Martinez caught up with K Dot which he opened up about Erykah Badu being the one artist he’d like to collaborate with right now. Kendrick was asked about anything he could change in his career before the recognition was having patience for his career chasing after money instead of staying true to his vision and art initially.
Over the last 6 months, he cites his success as a new growth in terms of knowing what he wants in life in comparison to growing up as a teen wanting the lavish things with his natural maturing as an adult. He closes out with speaking on TDE’s best feeling knowing where they came from putting in the groundwork for years becoming one of the most well respected and talented camps in music thanking M.U.R.S. for an opportunity.
