When Stephen Colbert ended his The Colbert Report series on Comedy Central last December, he hand-picked Kendrick Lamar as the final musical guest for the show. This week marks the inaugural premiere of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS, which King Dot had to show up to Manhattan and support his friend on succeeded the great David Letterman.

The Ed Sullivan Theater got a brief introduction to COMPTON, as the TDE rapper performed “Wesley’s Theory,” “Momma,” King Kunta and closed with “u”. Take a look at the medley performance above for his critically-acclaimed sophomore album To Pimp a Butterfly.
