Key Wane is one of today’s premier beatsmith’s and his frequent remixing of songs is a reason why. He’s able to take a track from someone and create a beat that sounds true to his sound, while not undermining the original. He doesn’t throw too much of his sauce on it, he brings just enough to bridge the gap between what he wants the new and improved track to sound like.
Yesterday, he dropped a remix to Diddy’s “Workin” off his latest mixtape MMM. He takes out Big Sean and Travis $cott and leaves in the two verses from Diddy’s. The remix is what we’ve come to expect from the Detroit producer and he nails it. He makes the song sound more royal and gives it a feel that screams opulence and decadence. The original beat is wearing Supreme to a loft party, but this one is wearing your best suit to a gala.
