Soft vocals with Hip-Hop drums? It actually works.
With a name like “Kindness,” what’s the first thing you think of when trying to decipher what genre you’re about to listen to? I thought it might be ironic if they flipped the name’s meaning and screamed at us like Kelis. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Instead, all that played was a mixture of ’80s breaks and Erik Hassle type vocals that start out like an indie track, then completely switches up into Rum DMC influenced drums.
I’m not a purist or anything, so it sounded pleasant on the ears to me. Shout out to the cowbell.
