With the passing of Phife Dawg, there have been many people who have spoken out about his legacy and how much love they have for A Tribe Called Quest. Even Kobe Bryant was asked about it and went into detail about his musical tastes after a game.
The Black Mamba acknowledged how much of a Tribe fan he was growing up and quote Phife to be the “passing of a legend.” He also mentioned how the group made timeless music and how genius they were at their craft. He was then asked how he chooses his pre-game music and Kobe emphasized how he likes to listen to music that evokes a certain emotion. Whether that’s when he was in high school, first year in the league or anything else.
Bryant ended the interview speaking on the tragedy in Belgium, him learning other languages (Spanish, French and Portuguese in particular).
