We’ve blasted Leon Bridges Coming Home album more times than we can count since its release, making it one of our favorite projects of the year. But what happens when you take that soulful singing and mix it with hip-hop beats and features? That’s what Coming Home To Texas is. Mick Boogie has remixed the entire effort and added the likes of Bun B and Slim Thug to it, sampling UGK and Geto Boys classics.
We can’t say it’s topping the original album, but for those who aren’t up on Leon’s work and wanted something a bit more hip-hop influenced rather than the throwback sound he carries, maybe it gets your ear through the door and you explore his music after listening to this.
