Malay has been busier than ever over the past year, who helped shape the sound of ZAYN’s debut solo album Mind of Mine (released last week) with most of the production credits. The producer was recently interviewed by Pitchfork, where of course, they couldn’t end the conversation without asking him about the long-awaited new album from Frank Ocean (he produced the majority of Channel Orange).
Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
So, when should we expect the new Frank Ocean album?
M: I always tell people: When he’s ready, the world is gonna get it. It could be tomorrow… well not tomorrow but maybe a month [laughs]. We’ve all been working hard. He’s been working super hard. I feel like he’s working harder than he’s ever worked in his life. I’m excited for everyone to hear it. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised, for sure.
He also speaks on his distinct sound and working with the likes of Miguel, Vic Mensa, Alessia Cara and Raury. Read more HERE.
