Mayer Hawthorne has been around more than you realize this past year, except it wasn’t under his own moniker. Him and Jake One formed Tuxedo and made a solid album full of nothing but throwback and feel-good records. It’s a little different than what you’d hear him do on his own, for the simple fact those tracks had more funk to them, where as his own solo work has a bit more vintage feel to it.
“Handy Man” is a great example of that. On the track, he’s going ’60s with it, speeding up the tempo enough that it’ll make you want to dance a little something.
