As well as being Kendrick Lamar’s regular tour DJ, Derek Ali aka MixedByAli has been the man behind mixing all your favorite TDE albums from the jump. So when he got the chance to link up with Dr. Dre, the, engineer and mixer cherished the moment to learn a few tricks from one of the best of all time.
Derek talks about the time his first got into the studio with the Dr. for K. Dot’s “Swimming Pools,” where he sat and soaked up game about every little tweak he was making. Dre would even give him a grade on how well he was doing.
