COMING STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON!

Most of us were far too young to witness N.W.A. live on stage when the group was at its peak. It wouldn’t surprise us if a good majority of young people hardly know who N.W.A. is at this point. But hopefully the new movie Straight Outta Compton opens their eyes as to how much the group played a part to West Coast rap and the genre in general in the early days.

For those who have never witnessed a proper show, you will get the chance this year at the BET Experience in Los Angeles on June 27, when Ice Cube hits the stage the reunites with DJ Yella, MC Ren and hopefully, Dr. Dre.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, he tells them it’s been a decades since he has rocked the mic with them and although he still performs songs like “Gangsta Gangsta” and “Straight Outta Compton” at his solo shows, nothing matches the energy he’d bring with the crew there. He also spoke about how “Fuck The Police” was necessary because of everything that happened in the past, and that the aggression is still there with the events going on in our country right now.

Interestingly, he told the magazine they are playing with ideas for the soundtrack, which would hopefully bring new music from them. The last time we heard them on a track together was on “Chin Check” and “Hello.”

“We’re definitely dibbling and dabbling, so to speak. It’s all about how great it comes out when you’re creating something. We can throw anything together; we can put rhymes and beats together easy. But our expectation level is so high, and if we meet our threshold, the world gets to hear what it is. If we don’t, we still need more time together to make it happen. It’s really some TLC, tender love and care, being put into these records. We’ll see what it is.”

Expect Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, ScHoolboy Q and other special guest to show up to STAPLES Center later this month when the reunion concert goes live.
