Last year, Nas returned to the elite status in the mainstream discussions by releasing quality material for his previous album “Life is Good.” Highlighted by singles such as “Nasty,” “The Don,” “Daughters” and “Chery Wine”; the album received so much praise even receiving a Grammy Award nomination for 2013’s Best Rap Album. Some outlets even considered it the best rap album of the year which was saying a lot for the nearly 20-year veteran to still be in the discussions with the influx of new artist we saw last year including Kendrick Lamar’s debut opus, “good kid, m.A.A.d city.” Nas, who’s in a good place in life (hence the last album title), is also in a good place musically and is continuing on with a follow-up album this year.
So next month, we can all look forward to the official announcement title of his twelfth studio album which we’re not trying to put pressure on Mr. Jones, but after delivering an album of the year candidate and one our favorite Nasty Nas albums ever; we’re expecting no drop off in quality material.
