In J. Cole’s latest EP, Truly Yours, a track titled “Stay” which had the same beat as Nas’ song was released. In this talk with MTV, Cole World says the beat was originally his but due to his inexperience in the game, he didn’t secure the No I.D. production when he had the chance and it was snatched up by Nasir when it was all said and done.
Interestingly enough, “Tears of Joy” from Rick Ross’ Teflon Don album was originally his as well, but he was in a wrong place with the label at the time, and couldn’t attack the record like he should have when he went to the studio with No I.D. that day.
You live and you learn, right young Simba? Born Sinner is coming soon.
