40 talks VFT6 with the new york times

As Views From The 6 inches closer to its spring release date in a few months, the New York Times caught up with Noah “40” Shebib last weekend to briefly discuss his helping hand in the long-awaited project. Mr. Shebib, who’s co-executive producing the affair, opened up on how Drake wanted to do an entire rap project after 2013’s Nothing Was The Same.

However, the pair realized they still have to cater to a certain audience with their signature R&B sounds and wouldn’t want to entirely exile them for a full hip-hop affair. Aside from bouncing up to 50 ideas in a day with Drizzy, he went into detail on how the two would immediately draw up a plan once his musical other half got attention from something that sounded intriguing.

As far as the new album and what fans have been waiting for; 40 went to say, “It’s going to be what everybody expects and wants from Drake and from us,” Mr. Shebib said. “A lot of introspection, very vivid. He’s discovering new flows, new cadences, new patterns. I’m trying to find ways to pull more untraditional sounds in, to push the boundaries a little further. The overall approach may be the same as the one that the duo has finely honed, Something about it should be special.”

Take a look at the entire piece over at The New York Times.
