With the best hip-hop producers in the game taking part in Mass Appeal’s Rhythm Roulette series, it was only right that Nottz eventually got his own episode.
However, this wasn’t just any old episode. Nottz had the task of putting on the blindfold and picking out records that J Dilla sampled in his work. His random selections were Daft Punk’s Daft Club, and Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters and Live Convention ’81, a live compilation featuring Grandmaster Flash.
Nottz was close friends with J Dilla. He produced the track “The Shining, Pt. 1 (Diamonds)” on the recent posthumous album The Diary.
