Future Future, HNDRXX
Released: February 17th, 24th
Essential Listening: Mask Off, Coming Out Strong (feat. Weeknd)

Future had been super quiet for a long little while, and that meant something because he drops frequently. Outside of the Esco tape over the summer, he really hadn’t dropped in a full year. February came, and Future took all the way over.

He dropped not one, but two albums back to back. First he dropped Future and it all came back. The goat memes, #FutureHive, lyrics all over captions and so forth. With the great reception from that, rumors started that he would drop another album early in the week. He confirmed, and by the end of that following week we had HNDRXX. After that dropped the internet went crazy, and just like Future was back on top again.

Outside of all the social media theatrics, the music is very good. Future is more rap while HNDRXX leans towards the R&B, Pop side. It’s the best of both worlds in two totally different albums. Where he’s super braggadocios and druggy on Future, he gets personal on HNDRXX. The latter can be explained as the album he really wanted to make when he made Honest, and this time he got it all the way right. He uses his usual team of producers such as TM88, Southside, Metro Boomin‘, Zaytoven and a few others. Metro has two of the strongest songs on both projects with “Mask Off” and “My Collection” signifying that the Future/Metro link up is still one of the best in the business.

he lone features come from The Weeknd and Rihanna and they’re both on HNDRXX. The Weeknd and Future really need to drop a tape at this point because “Coming Out Strong” is for sure a standout on HNDRXX. We’re glad Future is back, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for the rest of 2017, because if this month is any indication he’s in for a crazy year.
