OS Flashback: AZ – Mo Money, Mo Murder (feat. Nas)

One of our favorite hip-hop albums of all-time is still AZ’s critically acclaimed debut opus, Do or Die. While it doesn’t feel like the project is approaching its 18th anniversary, we’ve managed to keep it in our playlists since its release, without losing any touch in our enjoyment for the essence. While Pac, Nas & B.I.G. were controlling the airwaves, dominating urban music in the east coast, a classic gem went under the radar for quite some time —until we soaked in the history we were witnessing.

Perfecting Kool G. Rap’s “Mafioso,” the almighty zig-zag one unleashed out classic videos such as “Sugar Hill,” “Mo Money-Mo Murder” and “Gimme Yours,” which sadly didn’t feature the original Escobar version. One of hip-hop’s most over looked visuals depicting a mafia lifestyle was AZ’s “Mo Money, Mo Murder” music video with Nas. From basement tie-ups, to secret medical labs and even graveyards, the two were part of a visual masterpiece that we felt that should get more recognition.

Still the original S.O.S.A…..AZ.
