During the summer of 1994, IllaNoise’s Da Brat was set to take over the female scene in hip-hop with her debut “Funkdafied.” At the tender age of only 20 years, Brat became the first female rapper to go platinum on an album with hits such as “Funkdafied,” “Fa All Y’all,” and her third single shown here “Give It 2 You.”
Jermaine Dupri who’s featured in background vocals and producer of the song, was genius for being one of the first people to incorporate soul sounds from the 70s into being accretive during aggressive era in the 90s. Da Bra, who always had the pretty and innocent look always made you pay attention when she would spit some ruthless bars over Jermaine’s smooth beats virtually creating their own derivative of southern G-Funk.
