Just last week, Eminem made a mini-comeback with the release of the Call Of Duty: GHOSTS single, “Survival.” Impressed, we were not. It seems like every time we hear a new Em track, we have to revert to his old catalog to keep the memory alive (Ok, maybe it wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t something that has us thirsting for an album).
If we have to take it back to classic Marshall shit, his first album is the first we turn to. The Slim Shady LP lives in our hearts as the best project to date (yeah, take that you Marshall Mathers LP fanboys), and it would probably be one of the few albums we’d take with us if we were stranded on a deserted island for the rest of our lives.
Lord knows how they cleaned up “Role Model” enough to make a ready-for-TV version, but they did. It actually sounds sort of weird after not hearing the clean edit for more than a decade, but on this Friday, his first album sounds like the perfect soundtrack.
One time for the old Eminem.
