If we’re talking about commercial success, “Breakdown” flopped on all accounts. In 1998, when this single from her Butterfly album was released, Mariah Carey was treading into the Hip-Hop market and her label was having a hard time following her lead. Though the song failed to chart in the Hot 100, it remains one of Mariah’s personal favorites.
All of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony appeared in the video, but only Krayzie and Wish Bone had verses in the album version of the track, until the Mo-Thugs remix was released, which featured longer verses from Krayzie and Wish and a verse from Layzie as well.
We’ll always consider Mariah a G for showing love to them Cleveland boys. Oh, and she was looking bangin in this video. This might have been at the peak of our crush for her.
