This week, VH1 released their much-anticipated 90-minute documentary, ATL: The Untold Story of Atlanta’s Rise in the Rap Game. The Ludacris-produced project is still generating buzz, and shed light on the Atlanta music scene, which tells the story of the city finally overcame the dominance of other regions to get their story out to the masses.
It’s no secret that we’ve been huge supporters of the OutKast movement over the span of their careers and even before their reunion earlier this year (still waiting on new music). They’re a staple in Hip-Hop and one of our favorite groups ever, word to the Jalen and Jacoby Hip-Hop bracket.
After watching the documentary, we decided to look through our archives and blast their debut album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik nearly 20 years after its original release. The third and final single from the album, “Git Up, Git Out” is featured in our OS: Flashback series, that makes its return today. Joined by Cee-Lo and Big Gipp of Goodie Mob, Big Boi and Andre 3000 made their impact in the early 90s to lay out the blueprint for future artist for not only the south, but also internationally.
