We weren’t lying when we said that we had to revisit TLC‘s catalog after watching the trailer for their upcoming VH1 movie “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.” It just makes you appreciate the real deal T-Boz, Chilli and Left Eye that much more.
We’re sure the younger generation might not be as aware of the group’s contributions to R&B, but we actually grew up with them and can remember hearing their songs on the radio on the school bus every day after school was out. CrazySexyCool was a phenomenon that you couldn’t escape in the mid ’90s. The album went DIAMOND for God’s sakes.
TLC’s “Waterfalls” is their signature song and probably their most conscious, tackling subject matters like HIV and the ills of street drug deals (Shyheim, we see you!). It would be impossible to replicate that in today’s era, which makes the song so timeless.
