Legendary producer, Pharrell Williams made his way to “The World’s Most Dangerous Morning Show”, The Breakfast Club. In the interview, P was there in promotion for his long-awaited sophomore album G I R L. He opens up briefly about his career path, coincidentally in Neptune form with the stars aligning over the years, to having his biggest 12-month span ever in 2013.
Charlamagne Tha God brought up how for a few years, Skateboard P was not active in the music industry in recent memory, when he questioned a collaboration with Mac Miller last year. P discussed scoring Spiderman and multiple clothing collaborations in his break from production; but revealed the music we’re just now hearing has been in the chambers for nearly 3 years.
The conversation spanned to discussing a recent comment made by Timbaland, who revealed even in the midst of his time as the hottest producer, industry heads were citing his sound as dated. Pharrell drew a same parallel to himself avoiding the EMD-takeover in 2012/13, and set his own lane with “Happy” among other singles. Check after the jump for all of the above mentioned and details on his album cover, that drew some criticism.
Do remember G I R L will be available in stores everywhere and iTunes on March 3rd!
