Skateboard P talks today’s lyricism in music
Over the weekend, Flying Lotus made a visit to Beats 1 on Apple Music for a conversation with Pharrell Williams and Scott Vener on the state of hip-hop lyricism. While Lotus went to say that less skilled rappers are dominating what’s popular at the moment, Pharrell stepped in to draw a direct correlation of music and television – with society moving on from dated material.
Without disrespecting a newer generation of listeners and rappers, Skateboard P, who agreed with both Vener and Lotus went to say, “I feel like there’s a lot of people that don’t know the world has changed,” – in reference to the evolution of rap music.
