Run The Jewels surprise released their new album on a Wednesday, meaning that they had only two days of tracking. But still, it managed to debut at number 10 on the Billboard 100 chart with impressive numbers.
RTJ4 moved a total of 38,000 units in less than 48 hours. Of that figure, 30,000 were pure album sales and the other 8,000 were from streaming. It’s Killer Mike and El-P’s first top 10 album as a duo, following their previous peak of number 13 with Run The Jewels 3 in 2017.
The project largely benefitted from merchandise/album bundles on their website. RTJ4 was also available as a free download, but none counted towards the total sales. They also released the album alongside an appeal for donations to the Mass Defense Program.
