In late spring, SL Jones released Paraphernalia, his collaborative mixtape with DJ Burn One, and with that project, the Little Rock rapper and Atlanta producer solidified themselves as two of the most promising young artists around. Since release, SL and Burn One have brought their music on the road while also releasing a string of new videos from the project, and now, as each of them plans a variety of new projects, the two are giving fans one last treat from Paraphernalia, a remix for the fan-favorite “T.H.C.” The remix features ST 2 Lettaz (formerly of G-Side), Scotty, and Deniro Farrar.
The original version of “T.H.C.” offered fans an at-times-defiant, at-times-melancholic breakdown on what it means to hustle, and while the beat and SL’s crooned hook remain the same, the track is full of new verses, kicked off with a fresh take from SL, as he breaks down his cyclical, familial relationship with hustling. “Feds got me on them papers, call it federal vacation/ Uncle taught me how to hustle, call it special education,” raps SL. “Cousins taught me how to bang, that’s a family demonstration/ Then I taught my little brother, he’s another bad creation.”
