SoundCloud To Partner With Major Labels Soon

Soundcloud dodges a potential bullet to the heart.

In an attempt not to get sued for copyright violations by every major record label with power, Soundcloud is close to striking a deal with the “Big 3” labels, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group.

As part of terms of the deal, Soundcloud would give up 3-5% stake to each record label so they can continue sharing certain artist works on their website and app. They have also agreed to share part of future revenue, but details of the deal have not yet been finalized. The four sides are still in negotiations and should strike an agreement soon.
