SoundCloud Makes the Major Move
Is the SoundCloud we know and love about to have a significant change? Announced today, the audio platform has agreed a licensing deal with Universal Music, which will give them access to the label’s entire catalog. SoundCloud has already partnered with 20,000 indie labels as part of their plans, in addition to Merlin, Warner Music Group and the National Music Publishers Association, and now, the only major label holding out is Sony.
While there’s little information available, SoundCloud has plans to launch a paid subscription service later this year.
