With the competition high now that Apple Music has launched, Spotify is still trying methods to distinguish itself from everybody else. They continue to rule supreme in the numbers game, but Beats 1 Radio and Apple are starting to get a leg up.

To separate themselves a little from Apple’s exclusives, Spotify has launched a new feature called Musical Maps, which brings fans music from other countries by listening to those top hits in each country. The map of the world contains about a thousand playlists hosting tracks from different cities, so you can hear exactly what the people who reside there listen to.

Whether you want to check out what’s popular in Mexico, South America or Australia, you can. They will be updating the playlists every two weeks, so you can be up to date with the newest and check back often to discover what’s new in each spot.

The project and algorithm promises that each playlist is distinctive to each location so there won’t be too much overlap between countries and cities.
