Staff Picks: Our Favorite Albums of 2015

This is my third year picking out a favorite albums list and it’s been by far the toughest yet. I knew there had been tons of great projects throughout 2015, but I didn’t realize quite how much quality there was until I tracked back through my library and had to choose between around 100 albums I really liked.

Between listening to a lot old soul from D’Angelo, Raphael Saadiq, Diana Ross and The Impressions, my regular playlist included new music from across the board. K. Dot was easily a favorite from the big players, but it was labels like Stones Throw and Mello Music Group that had my attention from a hip-hop standpoint.

There’s music from Los Angeles, Berlin and London to name a few, with some great vocalists and electronic producers with moving textures in the mix. I rarely have a number one pick, but I’ve probably listened to the Dave DK LP the most times out of them all.
