Its not every day you get to hear stories from Steve Stoute, so the hour-long talk at Hot 97 is definitely welcome. Even when he didn’t mean to drop gems, he did and they spanned from athletes, rappers and all kinds of business dealings in between.
Stoute was actually there to promote the new STASHED print magazine, but the conversation quickly turned into his marketing company Translation and how he got a start in the game.
During the course of the talk, he mentioned things like the fact that Pusha T wrote the jingle for McDonald’s “I’m Loving It,” failing to sign LeBron James to Reebok even though he offered more money, getting fired from Sony and how that turned into managing Trackmasters (which led to a SERIOUS run on the charts with dozens of hit records), seeing Kobe Bryant study Michael Jordan film and how he prepared himself to guard Allen Iverson in the offseason, as well as how he struck gold with Will Smith and more.
If you need a run down of what this man has done for the culture, pay attention.
