Influenced by southern icons like Jeezy, Plies, & Lil Wayne, Tafia is a North Miami-based Haitian-American rapper who got his start freestyling and battle rapping while incarcerated in the Miami Federal Detention Center.
Within the first year of being released from prison, Tafia dropped 5 mixtapes, including the first two installments of his notable Street Fanci series. Meek Mill caught wind of him thanks to his prolific style of releasing music and set up a meeting with him in 2017.
Upon arrival, Meek Mill was playing Tafia’s song “Street Fanci” and rapped every word to him, bar for bar. Meek Mill eventually signed Tafia to Dream Chasers in 2021 after his label venture with Roc Nation, releasing his DJ Drama-produced Gangsta Grillz mixtape, Street Clarity shortly after.
Whether working in the styles of dancehall, hip-hop, or R&B, Tafia brings the same intensity, versatility, and punchiness to each sound with a sense of confidence and charisma on the mic that sets him apart in Florida’s highly-competitive hip-hop scene.
Through a constant stream of releases and unflinching dedication to his craft, Tafia has be releasing his debut album, Mention My Name, and is poised to have a breakout year in 2022.
