Muscle Car Chronicles
Producer: Sean O’Connell
Released: February 12th, 2012
Essential Listening: “Not So Much”

Spitta’s Muscle Car Chronicles was an experiment to say the least. It featured Curren$y rapping over only a live band and this was a clear step out of his lane, which he’d stuck to for so long. Sean O’Connell was the mastermind behind this project and you can hear Spitta rapping over some beats you would have never guessed on this release. It’s exceptionally short; even by Curren$y’s standards coming in at 9 tracks that run for barely 20 minutes. Some of the songs only have one verse and then a little jam session by the band, and sometimes there’s even dialogue between Curren$y and the band giving it a more personal feel.

The track where this experiment works best is probably “Not So Much,” which resembles some decent bar room blues, and Curren$y nails it in the two minute song. “Soundbombin” is loud and shrill but another song that the work between the two come full circle. As a opener to the project, you can tell that you’re in for something you have never heard from the New Orleans spitter.
