In this very interesting interview with Just Blaze and Lee Hawkins of the Wall Street Journal, Just Blaze breaks down so many things about the journey throughout his life, as well as the business of music and his VH1 show “Master Of The Mix.”
In the first part of the video, Just breaks down how he made the Baauer assisted “Higher,” from what was a skeleton beat to the fully produced final track.
He then gets into a few stories of how he came up in the very beginning, almost quitting production for a regular 9-5 and learning the business aspect of the game from a young age. The two then bring it home, as Justin explains the concept behind “Master Of The Mix” and how it all ties in to the respect he has for DJ culture as a whole, and how it’s transformed into a multi-billion dollar business for some DJ’s in recent years.
