Having met each other at a nightclub in LA several years ago, it felt only right for Mayer Hawthorne to unconventionally link up with Nottz. Being a longtime fan of a producer can be either a positive or negative aspect of creating music, but their cover of Otis Leavill’s “I Need You” (1969) is everything we could have hoped for: a timeless jam that acts as a delightful ode to the original.
