D’Angelo, where have you been at exactly? That question wasn’t answered.
One of the biggest events that went down this week in New York was D’Angelo at the Brooklyn Museum to sit down for a lecture with the Red Bull Music Academy’s Nelson George. As you can probably gather, the hour and twenty four minutes of talking from the soul brother touched a large array of topics, from what’s on the horizon to a history of his influences and early on in his career.
Among the things they touched on include the bands he was in during the beginning of his music, his first time in New York City and performing at the Apollo, evolving between albums, the music of Richmond & Westchester, VA at the time he was coming up, and he was joined on stage by Questlove, who brought up how they met and talked about how he changed his drumming.
