Damn, Pharrell has some classics under the belt.
It takes a keen ear to notice something like this, but Discopop has it. They discovered that a lot of Pharrell’s productions have something in common: the formula for the intro. They all start in practically the same fashion, with a four-count intro.
They took a slew of some of Skateboard P’s work throughout the years and pieced the catalog together to show how Pharrell “they all use the same trick to get into the song.” The average Pharrell fan out there reading this will be mind blown.
Among the tracks that he added, Snoop Dogg‘s “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” select songs from his GIRL album, Kelis “Milkshake” and JAY Z‘s “I Know” from American Gangster. Obviously not all of them are certified hits, but they’re no fillers either.
