The Week OnSMASH [9.13.14]

TheWeekOnSMASH_09-13-14

Welcome to another episode of The Week OnSMASH! The past week might’ve started off a little slow but things really got busy quick. So busy in fact, we decided to try a new layout in order to cover all the highlights. Let us know in the comments how this new format works for you. First up, we curated all the most popular new Music drops followed by notable interviews & live performances. Then on the following page we selected about a dozen Lifestyle headlines you won’t want to me. Finally on the last page we featured some key items from our Sports & Gaming sections.

There’s a ton of new music in here, from Wale’s new single to Big Sean’s carpet bombing last night with four new songs. On the remix tip, Nas blessed ScHoolboy Q on “Studio,” and A$AP Rocky hopped on a Sam Smith single. A$AP Ferg also made an appearance on a SBTRKT track off the album, Lil Kim dropped a mixtape and we got a sneak peek of Joell Ortiz’s new album. We also saw some dope performances from Chris Brown and Alicia Keys on late night, plus some informative interviews on The Breakfast Club from Childish Gambino and Jhene Aiko. Ice-T on Combat Jack is definitely something you don’t want to miss.

One of the biggest stories of the week was hands down, the unveiling of the iPhone 6. We have all your details if you missed it. Kanye West also revealed when the Yeezy 3’s were dropping, news surfaced about a Chris Rock movie with JAY Z and Yeezus himself co-producing, Nardwuar talked to Aziz Ansari and The Tonight Show played a hilarious game of “Family Feud.”

As far as sports, the NFL had one of the worst weeks in the history of the league, getting backlash for the new Ray Rice video that surfaced and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s comments about it after the fact. Then, Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson was indicted for child injuries yesterday, giving the NFL another black eye in their image, as they backpedal and try to clean up the mess.

Don’t forget to check back tomorrow to see our favorite music videos in Top 10 Videos of the Week. We hope everyone has a safe weekend.
