Two Kendrick Lamar verses in One week? Welcome to the new OnSMASH!
First off, I would like to take a moment to thank all our users for providing a lot of constructive feedback on the new redesign. Sometimes we forget how passionate our audience is about the site and for that we are all extremely grateful. It seems like we got the mobile & tablet layouts right across the board, but reviews on the desktop format from OG users seem a bit polarized. We already started discussing an alternative headline view (along with other new features) but just need to resolve some bugs first, so please bear with us.
With that out of the way, here’s our roundup of the most reactive content from the past seven days. MTV hosted their annual VMAs at The Forum in Inglewood, California. While this years host received mixed reviews there were some great performances featuring the wardrobe malfunction from Nicki Mianj and a nightcap with Beyoncé performing a medley of hits from her recent self-titled album – including an extra behind-the-scenes look at her night. NFL season also kicked off on Thursday, where the Seattle Seahawks obliterated the Green Bay Packers and sent a message to the NFL with a statement victory. Before the L.O.B. took field, Jimmy Kimmel resurrected his hilarious mean tweets segment that was segued into a feature our own for the biggest questions for the NFL season ahead.
Jeezy finally returned home after nearly a week behind bars for gun chargers and welcomed Power 105 to his backyard of the A’ for a special edition interview of The Breakfast Club. With his new album Seen It All set to see a 100K opening week in sales, he would catch the Holy Ghost Kendrick Lamar, for a special remix of the popular album cut. The popular Compton rapper would also partake in another rare featured release for his 2nd track of the month with Flying Lotus’ latest “Never Catch Me.” With the masses awaiting new K. Dot material after the big Jeezy premiere, Jhené Aiko was also at the popular NYC radio station to promote her upcoming debut album Souled Out with Angie Martinez and debunk and rumors of dating either Drake or Childish Gambino.
A few avenues over at Hot 97, G-Unit stopped by on the heels of their The Beast is G-Unit EP arriving in a few weeks to have one of their first freestyle sessions on Funkmaster Flex’s primetime show in over a decade. With the aggressive sounds from within the 5 boroughs making a splash return to the national scene, Bobby Shmurda released his long-awaited “Hot Nigga (Remix)” featuring some of the most respected names in rap. Transitioning back to the south, Ludacris gave light to how his city and region emerged as number one in VH1’s must watch documentary, ATL: The Untold Story of Atlanta’s Rise in the Rap Game. We can never forget the West either, with Wiz Khalifa stopping by Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Los Angeles to talk his number one album at the moment, Blacc Hollywood. With Remy Ma having aspirations of pursing an acting career on Orange Is The New Black to have a star of her own on the walk of fame, super model Hannah Ferguson closed out our week making us fall in love with her in the latest spread for GQ Magazine.
If your favorite post didn’t make the list or you have concerns regarding the new site, PLEASE yell at us in the comments!
Have a safe weekend.
