After concocting the music on EMPIRE since the beginning, it looks like FOX’s hit series is parting ways with super producer Timbaland. With season three around the corner, the show has hired producer Rodney Jerkins as supervising music producer and songwriter Ester Dean.
Not only are those two joining the music team but songwriters including Johntá Austin, Makeba Riddick, Jesse St. John, Ne-Yo and J.R. Rotem are all on board as well.
The series has decided to take a different route as far as the music, bringing in people who were known for bigger hooks and bigger pop hits. The past two seasons dealt with family drama, but it seems like the show is take a turn, as they try to break an artist in the mainstream this season and get back to smashing the Billboard charts.
The list of guest artists for season three is huge, so it seems like EMPIRE is trying to go big or go home with the music and the soundtrack.
