Timbaland Explains How Drake Mastered Music

Watch Timbo stop by Ebro in the morning

Since joining FOX’s hit-series EMPIRE, Timbaland has transitioned from focusing on just his personal sounds, to becoming an executive producer of music on show – which we’re sure is opening doors for his career, he never knew that existed. During a recent stop to our comrades at Hot 97, the legendary beat-maker and producer explained how he originally set to make Aaliyah, himself and Missy Elliot stand out from fellow artists with the creation of beat switch-up patterns.

He soon compared the innovation of his producing style to street basketball, catching listeners off guard and entertained at the same (just check their discography from the 90s and beyond).

This soon jumped into why he believes producers are becoming extinct, but believed that there were some great programmers supplied with great tools. Watch more from the conversation, where he opens up about an experience in the studio with Drake and how he believed during their recording of Say Something instantly made him realize he was ahead of his competition at the time.
