We don’t mind a funky tune like this at all, but things got a little weird when we heard the Nate Dogg melodies crooning out of Mayer Hawthorne‘s mouth for “Number One.”
As much as this beat makes us want to get up and dance because it’s so groovy, we can’t help but to hear the classic “Ain’t No Fun” single by Snoop Dogg, 213 and Kurupt throughout the course of the entire track. Not just a line or two, but every verse and hook. We have no doubt that Tuxedo will have great music on their self-titled album dropping March 3, but maybe we’re too much of West Coast purists to give this one a full pass.
Who knows, maybe they’re just paying homage to the OG.
