For the first time since last year’s Multi-Love, Unknown Mortal Orchestra are back with a brand new single. The band’s new jam “First World” was premiered by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 this evening. Frontman Ruban Nielson says the funky track is about “modern love in a crumbling empire” and “the feeling that you’re trying to build your life and get what you need while a decadent world falls apart around you.”
Despite this being their first original release since 2015, UMO recently covered “Shakedown Street” for the Grateful Dead tribute album.
