The upcoming Grateful Dead tribute album Day of the Dead is coming out on May 20th, curated by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National. Today, they’re sharing some new tracks, including Unknown Mortal Orchestra‘s groovy cover of “Shakedown Street,” taken from the Grateful Dead’s 1978 album of the same. The Auckland band pick up the pace a little and pay tribute in the coolest of ways.
The 59-track compilation will feature the likes of The War on Drugs, Jenny Lewis, Moses Sumney, Mumford & Sons, Ed Droste, Wilco, Charles Bradley, Local Natives, The Flaming Lips and many others.
