The US Government Sells Martin Shkreli’s Copy of ‘Once Upon A Time in Shaolin’

Once upon a time in rap history, Martin Shkreli purchased a one-of-one copy of Wu-Tang Clan‘s album Once Upon A Time in Shaolin. Considering he has been embroiled in a heap of mess with the feds since, the U.S. government has now announced they have sold his album.

The project is now in the hands of an anonymous buyer and has sold for an undisclosed amount.

Whatever was made from the proceeds will now be applied to the outstanding $7.4 million debt Shkreli has after his sentencing in March of 2018. He is serving a 7-year sentence in prison for securities fraud.

Produced by RZA and Tarik “Cilvaringz” Azzougarh over the span of six years, the album came with a certificate of authenticity, hand-carved silver-and-nickel-plated box and jewel case, and 174-page leather-bound manuscript containing lyrics, credits and back stories on the production of each song.

In 2015, it sold to Shkreli through auction for $2 million dollars.

At the time of its sale, under terms of the deal, Martin would have to wait 88 years to make the release available to the public. Is not yet known if those terms carry over to the new owner or not.
